Types of noses
You could say there are as many types of noses as there are people on earth. Indeed, the nose varies enormously from one individual to another and allows us to recognize each other. It is an essential element of the face and is subject to many insecurities. Thus, some people decide to embrace their nose, others prefer to resort to cosmetic surgery to correct a nose that is too self-conscious. In this article, we will present the different types of noses : the classic nose, large, falling, stepped, flat, humped, without hollow and the trumpet nose.
"classic" nose
The classic nose is a harmoniously shaped nose, neither too small nor too large. There is a hollow between the forehead and the nose. In addition, the nasal ridge has a very slight hump. Also, the tip of the nose is slightly rounded and there is a slight break with the labionasal cleft.
The nostrils are of normal size, neither too wide nor too narrow, and create a beautiful face in profile and from the front. This type of nose meets current beauty standards (this has not always been the case).
The big nose
A big nose is a nose whose proportions are larger than those of the face. It is both large in profile and from the front , with nostrils proportionate to the size of the nose. It is often older, healthy people who have a Bourbon nose. Indeed, the nose grows throughout life, and it is rare to have a nose like this in your twenties. The nose has no particular deformity; it is simply larger in relation to the face.
Trumpet nose
The trumpet nose is characterized by a concave nasal ridge. This causes the tip of the nose to point upwards, pulling the nostrils forward. This can sometimes stretch the nostrils a little too much and create tension in the nasolabial cleft. The trumpet nose is very fashionable right now, and many stars are having surgery to achieve this type of nose. This nose gives a youthful, childlike appearance. It is generally preferred by women because it does not fit into the standards of “manliness.”
The drooping nose
A drooping nose is a nose whose tip is lower than the base of the nostrils. It gives the impression of falling forward. This is the nose that artists love to give to witches. Also called a hooked nose, it gets its name from its hook shape (like the aquiline nose but more rounded). This is why it is associated with Machiavellian characters.

The humped nose is somewhat similar to the Bourbon nose, but it is more solid in appearance and smaller. It is characterized by a more or less large hump on the ridge of the nose. This hump on the nose can sometimes cause some people to feel self-conscious, as it makes their face look unharmonious. The humped nose can create tension on the nostrils.
The stepped nose
The stepped nose is quite rare. Some find it cute while others find it unsightly; everyone has their own opinion on the matter. It is characterized by a break in the nasal ridge toward the inside. Unlike those born with a trumpet nose, the hollow is more angular and less concave. The tip of the nose is also angular and not rounded like the normal or trumpet nose. In general, the nostrils are classic in size or small.
The hooked nose
A hooked nose is characterized by thin skin that reveals the angular aspects of the nose. A hooked nose gives a sharp, pointed look to the face. This type of nose is relatively rare; some people love it, others hate it. Typically, the tip of the nose is slightly lower than the base of the nostrils. The width of the nose is very narrow. Thus, the hooked nose is somewhat the complete opposite of the Bourbon nose and the flat nose.
Nose without hollow
The seamless nose is characterized by the absence of a break between the forehead and the nasal ridge. Its originality is mainly seen in profile. The nasal ridge is also very straight and ends at the tip of the nose. The nostrils are generally quite classic. Some people criticize it for enlarging the forehead.
The crushed nose
The flat nose is the smallest type of nose. It is relatively small compared to the size of the face. There is a significant break between the forehead and the nasal ridge at eye level. It is also characterized by small nostrils that are sometimes flattened. The nostrils are therefore short in length but large in width.

The nose is one of the 3 essential elements of the face along with the eyes and the chin. It therefore plays an essential role in the beauty and harmony of the face.
