LIPS SURGERY

Various cosmetic surgery procedures can be performed on the lips to improve their appearance. Options include injecting fillers, such as hyaluronic acid, to increase lip volume and redefine their contours. Another technique, called liposculpture or lipofilling, involves removing fat from a part of the body through liposuction and then injecting it into the lips to naturally increase their volume.

Correction of lip asymmetries is also possible, whether due to genetic factors or trauma. Some individuals may wish to reduce the size of their lips, and surgery may be performed to remove some of the lip tissue.

In cases of aging-related sagging of the lips, a lip lift may be considered. This procedure aims to restore a more youthful appearance by lifting the corners of the lips.

What are the different cosmetic and reconstructive lip surgery procedures?

Injections of fillers

Injections of fillers such as hyaluronic acid are very popular for increasing lip volume and improving lip shape. This procedure is often used to create fuller lips and redefine their contours.

Lips lift

A lip lift aims to correct sagging lips that can occur with age. This procedure can help restore a more youthful appearance by lifting the corners of the lips.

Liposculpture or lipofilling

This procedure involves surgically removing excess gum tissue. It is often used when excessive gum growth is the primary cause of a gummy smile.

Correction of asymmetries

Some patients may have asymmetrical lips, either due to genetics or as a result of injury. Cosmetic surgery can be used to correct these asymmetries and improve facial balance.

Lip reduction

In some cases, a person may wish to reduce the size of their lips. This can be achieved through surgery that removes some of the lip tissue.

What are the scars left by lip surgery?

Lip (facial) operations generally leave few scars.

The injections do not leave any scars (except for very small dots which may be visible for some time after the injection).

Other operations may result in small scars.

On the other hand, reconstruction operations, correction of asymmetries due to accidents, illnesses or congenital malformations can be more traumatic and leave scars but they will generally be minor and more discreet than defects prior to the operation.
