PURPLE COLORED DARK CIRCLES
Where do colored circles come from?
Purple colored circles or dark circles correspond to a variation in the skin color at the level of the lower eyelid below the eye. This is due to a skin thickness 5 times thinner than on the rest of the body.
The visibility of dark circles on the face can be accentuated by bags under the eyes. In this case, this is excess skin or fat under the lower eyelid.
The pigmentation of the epidermis of the lower eyelid can take on different shades:
- dark blue
- gray
- purple

What causes dark circles under the eyes?
There are several factors that can contribute to dark circles under the eyes.
Transmission by parents
Dark circles can be hereditary. This skin discoloration, caused by particularly thin skin on the lower eyelid, may be in your genes and therefore passed on by your parents.
Aging
Aging of the skin leads to a decrease in skin density and therefore more transparent skin which will reveal blood vessels and therefore give a dark appearance to the eyelid.
The way of life
Lifestyle also has an impact on dark circles. Smoking, alcohol, stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, and fatigue can all worsen the color of dark circles.
Hyperpigmentation of the skin
The high presence of melanin in the eyelids can cause dark circles. This can be genetic or due to excessive sun exposure.

How to get rid of dark circles?
Cosmetic surgeons are able to reduce the dark color of dark circles using the technique of lipofilling or nanolipofilling.
This technique will consist of injecting stem cells under the eyelids in order to reduce their transparency and therefore make the purple side disappear.
To do this, the surgeon will take fat from the patient and then filter it in order to keep only a liquid rich in stem and growth cells which will stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid and skin.
The surgeon can also inject hyaluronic acid (not taken from the patient) directly under the skin. However, the effect will be temporary and will fade after a year.
Want to simulate blepharoplasty on your eyelids?
- Upload your photo , front view.
- We will send you a photo simulation of the operation.
- You can then show the photo to your surgeon to ask if the operation is technically feasible and at what price.
