LONG NOSE
The long nose is present in both men and women, but its width will be greater in men. It can be thin or wide. In this case, we will often be dealing with a large Bourbon nose .
Due to its length, it will have a greater tendency to be twisted . In fact, its length means that the slightest deviation of its base will have a significant impact on the tip.
What is the reason for the long nose?
Nose length is determined by genes. It is hereditary and therefore depends on the parents. A person with a large nose will often have relatives with the same profile.

How to shorten a big nose?
The surgery used to reduce its size is reduction rhinoplasty . It is performed by cosmetic/plastic surgeons and also sometimes by ENT and Maxillofacial surgeons .
The operation will involve accessing the nasal structures by making incisions in the nostrils. The surgeon will remove pieces of bone and cartilage. He or she may also use deep stitches to reposition the cartilage. The cutting and grinding of the bones (osteotomy) is done using a milling machine or an ultrasound (piezoelectric) device.
The surgeon may operate on the tip, the body and/or the base of the nose.
Operation Information
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and generally requires 1 night in the clinic or hospital. The scars are hidden inside the nostrils. There is sometimes a scar on the skin fold between the 2 nostrils but it is discreet. However, it will be necessary to protect it from the sun for the first year after the operation.
Recovery after surgery is rapid (approximately 10-15 days). Final results are visible 3 to 6 months after the procedure.
Can you shorten your nose with hyaluronic acid injections?
No, hyaluronic acid will help plump up a specific part of the body. Also, if the nose is too large, injections will be unnecessary.
The operation is sometimes accompanied by a refinement of the nostrils
The nostrils can be narrowed. Their placement cannot be altered, or only at the cost of visible scarring. However, the surgeon performing rhinoplasty can make an incision in the nostril, remove a section, and then resew it. The incision is made in the crease and is virtually invisible. The nostril will therefore be less bulging and appear narrower.
How much does rhinoplasty cost to shorten your nose?
The price for a reduction rhinoplasty ranges from $5 000 to $20,000 . It depends on the surgeon’s reputation and whether he reduces only the tip, or the tip + the bridge, or the tip + the bridge + the base.
Purely cosmetic operations are not reimbursed.
What are the risks of rhinoplasty?
The risks of rhinoplasty include developing infections, a reaction to the anesthetic, significant bleeding, an uneven nose (failed rhinoplasty), a perforated nasal septum, a perforated palate, or a disappointing result for the patient. To limit the chances of being disappointed after the operation, it is strongly recommended to have a before-surgery photo simulation to clearly define the desired result and discuss it with the surgeon. This can help you avoid surgery and save thousands of dollars.
