Definition of trumpet nose
The snub nose, also called a trumpet nose or baby nose, is a nose that has the characteristic of having a concave crest (the opposite of a hump). It is one of the small noses. The trumpet nose has 2 important characteristics:
- A concave, hollow dorsum (nose ridge).
- An angle greater than 120° between the columella and the upper lip. The average is 95° in men and 100° in women.
Maxillary (upper jaw) retraction surgery can cause a trumpet nose to be enlarged. Conversely, jaw advancement can reduce the angle between the upper lip and the columella and reduce an upturned nose.
Trumpet nose rhinoplasty
